To Kill A Kingdom Review

This was a hard Bookstagram for me to do. I don't know why. I love the cover but maybe because of the colors it was difficult for me to find items to go with it. As you can see, eventually I did get it together.

I was excited to read this story because I love mermaids and sirens. I just finished the show called Siren that comes on Freeform and I was pumped to find another interesting story about sirens. This is the first book I have read with one as the main character. Also this is the first stand a lone book I have read in a long time.

Princess Lira is siren royalty and the most lethal of them all. With the hearts of seventeen princes in her collection, she is revered across the sea. Until a twist of fate forces her to kill one of her own. To punish her daughter, the Sea Queen transforms Lira into the one thing they loathe most--a human. Robbed of her song, Lira has until the winter solstice to deliver Prince Elian’s heart to the Sea Queen and or remain a human forever.

The ocean is the only place Prince Elian calls home, even though he is heir to the most powerful kingdom in the world. Hunting sirens is more than an unsavory hobby--it’s his calling. When he rescues a drowning woman in the ocean, she’s more than what she appears. She promises to help him find the key to destroying all of sirenkind for good--But can he trust her? And just how many deals will Elian have to barter to eliminate mankind’s greatest enemy?

Lira is a cold, heart stealing bitch, but I like her! She is a product of what her mother has made her into so its not all her fault. Kinda reminds me of Maven from the Red Queen series. Even though her character is fierce she still shows she has a glimmer of compassion in certain situations. She appears as if she is the villain and sometimes she is but this is one of those stories where the villain becomes the hero and those are my favorite kinds of stories.

I give this book a 5 out of 5 stars.
